90% of all goods ranging from oil, gas, coal, and grains to electronic items, are carried each year by over 80,000 merchant ships larger than 2000 tons. It’s the equivalent of shipping 1000 tons of products over 30 billion miles a year and results in 5% of all carbon emissions each year. We can easily save at least 50% of all shipping energy costs – equivalent to 2.5% of all global carbon use. Start by slowing container ships down from 24 knots to 20 knots to save up to 40% of fuel costs. Need a world-class keynote speaker on shipping, logistics and supply chains? Aviation produces up to 5% of national carbon emissions in countries like the UK, growing every year - 2% globally. However, because of the relative impact of vapour trails, cirrhus cloud formation and other factors, it is likely that this 2% represents 3.5% - 5% of the total human impact of global warming.
Many aircraft flying today were made over 25 years ago and waste fuel. Simple steps can be taken to improve fuel efficiency in older planes – by as much as 7%.
Future of Aviation post written in 2009 - very accurate.

Written in 2009 - anticipating future workplace trends very accurately.
Life’s too short to travel to every meeting and the latest technology really makes you feel you are all together. Three dimensional images can also be created of conference speakers for larger audiences, walking life-size on stage. Over 25% of many corporation’s carbon footprint is travel and air travel is a significant element of this. If a third of business travel could be turned into virtual meetings, it would reduce annual global emissions of CO2 by over 120 million tons. Many business leaders are already spending up to six weeks a year cruising at 35,000 feet. What happens in the next three to five years?

Future Construction and Smart Cities
Roof gardens keep flat roofs cool in Summer – and also help insulate in winter.
They require little maintenance and reduce energy bills significantly. 12% of roofs are “green” in Germany already, and Tokyo law requires at least 20% of all new roofs to be “green”.
Studies on Chicago City Hall after installation showed that roof temperatures fell by up to 30 degrees C on hot summer days and surrounding areas were cooler by 9 degrees C. We know that with every degree less difference between internal and external temperature, the fuel bill can fall by up to 10%.
